Meteor

A sculpture, made of a single four-tone block of Carrara marble, embelishes the water garden in front of the Itamaraty Palace, the head Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, since 1967. It represents all five continents, and was conceived by Bruno Giorgi (1905-1993).

Tiles

Photo: Roberta Sá

Brasília is full of beautiful tiles. They come as a surprise, in places you do not expect. Not old ones, like you can see around Lisbon, but modern ones, designed by Athos Bulcão (July 2, 1918 – July 31, 2008).

He was public artist, interior designer, muralist, furniture and graphic designer, from Rio de Janeiro, invited to Brasilia to collaborate with Oscar Niemeyer.

These tiles pictured are all over the wall of a small church (Nossa Senhora de Fátima, 307/308 South), called by locals as “Igrejinha”, since 1957.

Restart

Due to various reasons, this photoblog has been neglected for quite some time.
